reading, writing & 'rithmetic

Camille had her very first day of "school" today, backpack and all! She and Isabel are attending a program called Children's Praise & Rainbows at a local church on Thursdays. So, like every good mom, grabbed the camera and snapped her very first "first day of school" photo.

That's right. Take a closer look if you need to. I even got a smile out of her. Well, if you can consider that a smile!

After checking to make sure I had packed everything (which I hadn't of course) we hopped in the car and were off to school!

Aaron was able to meet us there and check out her classroom. We actually already knew her teacher, Miss Debbie, as she and her family go to our home church. Camille was ready to play with toys when we got to the classroom, but when another little boy started crying after his mom left she started getting suspicious. Meanwhile, I sneaked out of the room to leave the teary goodbyes for Aaron to deal with. She did, of course, cry a bit. But from what Miss Debbie said when we picked Camille up, she had a great first day.
When I got to the room to pick her up I was able to snap a photo through the open door before Camille noticed me.

But as soon as she saw the camera flash she turned right around and got the hugest smile on her sweet little face. Melted my heart in an instant!

So I think it's safe to say that the first day of school was a success. After her nap I asked her if she had fun at school. She promptly gave her characteristic chortle, indicating that she did have fun. But when I asked if she going to go back next week she politely ansered, "No." So we'll see. She'll be back for sure, and I bet she has fun once again!
