26

Yesterday was my 26th birthday. All of a sudden I'm feeling very old. I don't remember feeling this old on my birthday last year. But I guess that would make sense, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I did have a wonderful birthday! It began at 5:40 AM when I got up to go tell Camille that "No, it's not time to get up yet." And no, she didn't listen to me. She proceeded to quietly chit chat away in her crib for nearly two hours before the rest of us finally got up for good.

My dear friend Megan joined us for lunch at home. My mom picked up lunch from my new favorite Mexican restaurant in town and we all chowed down on enchaladas, tacos, steak, and yummy chips and salsa. Of course, no birthday lunch is complete without some homemade chocolate birthday cake!

Dinner was delicious BLT's and, of course, more chocolate cake. This time we even lit a few candles on it and my family sang the birthday song to me. Camille was quite intrigued by the whole event. What was even more comical was that the cake was already 1/4 of the way gone when we did the whole candles/song thing. Unfortunately I didn't think to take a picture. But I think you get the idea.

Today started much like yesterday: a 5:30 AM visit to Camille to remind her that it was till nighttime. Only this time we brought her into our bed just after 6 in hopes that she would go back to sleep. We knew that she wouldn't. We'd actually never done this before. But I tell you, she laid there with us for nearly 45 minutes before realizing that it was getting brighter and that it must finally be morning. It really was quite impressive, and a wonderful belated birthday present from her!

Today my naptime goal was to get things accomplished. First I finished decorating some cookies we are bringing (along with dinner) to some new friends from church who had a baby a week ago. We're excited to meet little baby Fred (the 6th generation of Fred's in his family) tomorrow when we drop the goodies off!

While Camille's nap continued, so did my to-do list. I appliqued some shirts for her to wear this winter. Two are Christmas-y and I think turned out adorable. The third is a heart with a butterfly pattern on it. They were super easy to make and are just so cute!
After she woke up we wisked her outside so I could snap some photos of her new shirts. It was a bit chilly out, but with the sun shining on us she didn't mind being without a coat one single bit!

Of course we can't go outside without a little Daddy playtime! Camille's favorite outdoors game with Daddy right now is "fly." You guessed it. She runs to him and he flings her up into the air.

Well, usually. Sometimes she dawdles and swerves and barely makes it to him, just because she thinks it's funny. It is.

But in the end they're always on the ground laughing together.

Not a bad weekend, if I do say so myself. So tell me, what did you do this weekend?
