beat the heat: vol. 2

For the past several days the temperatures and dew points here have rivaled those only found in the Amazon rainforest in South America.

Yep. It's been that awful.

We've literally stayed indoors at all costs, venturing out only to the car to blast the air conditioning until we've reached our indoor destination. When we get there (gymnastics, library, church for VBS, grocery store) we quickly dart from the van to the door, going as fast as possible without risking falling over from what feels like a lack of oxygen.

Thankfully, today we've been given a breath of fresh air. The high temperature today is supposed to reach 100, but with the dew point only at 69, being outside in the shade is much more manageable.

So after being cooped up for much too long, the kids and I headed out onto the deck with our bin of water for another episode of beat the heat

Camille, as usual, was loving the water and was quick to climb right in to her "bath."

And even Levi, who is usually skeptical (to a point of hysterics) of standing water (besides in a bathtub) was happy to climb in and stomp around.

With all this heat the kids have been napping really well, which has been really great. And I'm not working this week, so it's been nice to just be lazy with them and spend some quality indoor time together!

And I think I can officially cross visit the Amazon rainforest off my list of things to do before I die. Or at least move it to the bottom of the list.
