Several of you have asked about Camille's yellow necklace, so I thought I'd give you the inside scoop. If you don't mind, I'm going to start way back.

When I first started using cloth diapers for Camille (she was five months old, and I was sick of paying $40 for a box of diapers every month) I was introduced to the website DiaperSwappers. Yes, this site has all things cloth diaper-related. But it also has discussion forums for many many other topics (parenting, pregnancy, green living, breastfeeding, etc.). I happened upon the topic of amber teething necklaces. Of course I though, What, the kid chews on the necklace. Well apparently that is not what the necklaces are for. Here's what I have learned...

Baltic amber is not a stone. It is fossilized tree resin. And it has been used for many many years as a pain reliever. This is because it has high concentrations of succinic acid (which, apparently, relieve pain and reduce inflammation), which is transfered into the skin when the amber is worn as a necklace (or bracelet, or anklet, or whatever).

So does it work? you ask. My very technical answer is maybe. I've worn an amber bracelet on my wrist that has tendonitis flare-ups often, and I personally believe it has helped me. But I really have no way of discerning whether or not it is helping Camille. For goodness sake, the kid is nearly 18 months and only just got her sixth tooth.

This much I do know:

1. Camille loves her necklace. She wears it always.

and

2. I think it's pretty darn cute.

In case you are interested, I purchased our amber necklaces and bracelets from Inspired by Finn. They have all sorts of sizes and styles and colors. I've even seen some boy-ish looking ones that would look quite hansom on a little guy! Boys can wear necklaces too, right?

I'm thinking of contacting them to see if they're interested in doing a giveaway on my blog. Would anyone be up for that??

'night friends!

I am totally going to that website! The necklace is darling and my little girl seems to be teething much worse than my son did so I'm up for trying it. And, if she happens to chew on it, that wouldn't be so bad either right? Since I've been leaving alot of comments on your blog I thought I'd check to see if you know who I am. I'm IRL friends with Jennifer and met you briefly at the MckPicnic (can give you more identifying details if you still can't picture me). Anyway, thanks for sharing. Take care!

I am also going to go to their website! As you know Isabel tends to teethe pretty bad, and just got her 13th tooth (an eye tooth, which I think was more painful than some of the others), with the other 3 eye teeth to appear anytime. I have admired Camille's necklace for awhile now and always forget to ask you where you got it!

LOVE IT! :) Especially since lyla has 2 teeth now...and she loves to chew on all mine, even if that's not what its meant for, at least I know there's no lead in it right :)

We love Amber Teething necklaces. Logen has worn one for the longest time until now. He sadly has out grown his and we cant afford a new one. He has never had any problems with teething while wearing his necklace. And they dont look girly on boys.

I have never heard of these but it sounds very interesting....Hope just cut her first tooth last week and it was hard on her. Also, the neclace is absolutely adorable

This is my first time hearing such an interesting teething necklace. My little one is also reaching the teething stage. I am hoping the necklace will work wonders on him.

Thank you for the info and the offering. :)

Gorgeous necklace! I have always wanted one of those since I learned about them from a friend. While DD #1 is past teething age, I am expecting #2 in April and would really love to have one for him/her. :)

Oh, how fun! I always wondered about Camille's necklace! And she does look so cute in it!

Great hanging out today! I hope you survived the way home!

Oooh, I like that pale amber! I never could find any clothes for DD that would look right with the darker amber. But the pale yellow...that would totally work with all of her pastels.

Also, your husband looks like Billy Boyd from Lord of the Rings! :)

I can also vouch for the pain-relieving benefits of amber!

I just love blog giveaways. :) I have an amber necklace that I love, and Kaiya has one too, but Sarah doesn't. Poor kid feels left out. She's not teething, well, actually she is due to get her 6 year molars in the not to distant future. But she does love to get mail and a pretty new necklace would be sure to banish any grumpies I'm sure!

So do you still by any chance give that coupon code? I would love to get my 1 month old an anklet.
